Here is a photo of a sunset that I took of one evening in one April during the time when I took a photography class. I haven’t shared it until now. Hope you all of you like this photo.
I took these photos at the Japanese American Historical Park with some Flowering Cherry Trees and in the background and across the Willamette River in the Convention Center and Moda Center; along with the Steel Bridge. One of the photos is a little part of the east bank of the Willamette River and there is a part of Interstate 5 that runs on the east side of Portland. There is a map below the photographs of where I took these.
Here are some photographs that I took with my iPad on my way up to Oregon from Arizona. I managed a way to get to school and since I didn’t have my Canon Camera with me to take photographs the “next” best thing to do – is to take a couple of photographs with my iPad.
Granted these aren’t of the best quality of photographs which is kind of expected with a 1 and 1/2 old iPad.
These were between Paso Robles, CA and Salinas, CA except for the body of water in the gallery. Think I took the photograph in Oregon but not sure.
The Amtrak line that took these photos were on the Coast Starlight.
Enjoy – like or leave a comment below the gallery.
I’m asking for a little help for my disabled brother who has diabetes and has a prosthetic leg. The help I’m asking for is to help fix his car that he needs to get to his prosthesis and to see his diabetic doctors.
He has been using rent money to pay for taxi’s to and from his doctor’s and by doing that he has been evicted from his apartment, so now he is homeless too.
If you are able to help him or us to get his car fixed and here is a way to help him by donating at: Go Fund Me. There’s more details on the Go Fund Me page.
There is obligation on your part – meaning you the followers to help. This would be one of the rare times I would be asking for any kind of help in raising funds.
Thanks for any help that might be able to give him.
Below are my New Year Resolutions for 2014 which are relatively basic to have and to follow:
1) Study better for the classes that I’m taking at University
2) look for and apply for a few jobs and try to get a part-time job
3) try to lose some weight and get a bit healthier
4) Upload and Post photographs that I took at Lake Tahoe to flickr.com and to this blog, so I could share pictures of Lake Tahoe and of Rogue and Lolo while there.
5) backup my computer more often (this is something that I shouldn’t share – maybe) even though I do backup my computer a few times a year.
6) Get a new computer – either a laptop or a new/used desktop computer for studying.
I just need to follow though on most – preferably following though of all these above items to have the next year-end on a high note. Also, to get out the negative thoughts (having pessimistic thoughts or being pessimistic about a lot of things) that I have had.
There is a good chance that I will post an update to this post in December 2014 on what I have completed and what I have not even finished by the end of year (2014).
Good luck on the New Year to those who read this post.
This set of photographs were taking a few months back (February 2013) in North Portland at Columbia Park along North Lombard Street. The photo of Mt. Hood taken near University of Portland looking towards the Southeast in the evening sunset. The photos had been edited to bring out the sunlight in each one.
One thing that I have noticed that have changed is the type of books that I have read for the last 6 to 8 years. I used to read only Science Fiction and Computer books, a few fiction and non-fiction books. I am looking at more authors from fiction and non-fiction books. I’m getting burnt out and tired of reading Sci Fiction and Computer books in general. Basically similar content when I’m computer books and I could say the same thing about Sci Fiction books.
For all the reading I want to do now, I just don’t have access to the books that I already have in storage, in Alaska. Even though I go to the library to check out books that I want to read, it’s still not the same of going into another room that is full of books and choosing a book that I already own.
I love to read. A lot, when I can or when I’m not in school and even though I read for classes, it is nice to read books that takes your mind of off things for a short bit of time before getting back to reading for school or work.
Even though I’ve started to read books again, it had been a hit and miss habit that comes and goes like the wind. Sometimes reading could be the only thing that would be the only thing that would make me sleepy enough to fall asleep at night. That’s one thing I like about reading these days.
Now, I just to figure out to spread out reading for pleasure, school, and daily life evenly to make things work seemly together. I, also, need to make time to take photographs for class, and for building up a portfolio. I need to find some way to publish some photographs so I can get noticed. Taking and talking about photography is for another post for another time.
Note: I got an email from PSU saying I would hear a decision from them in the next 4 to 6 weeks, and I would figure the same amount of time for University of Oregon.
I’m hoping to get into University of Oregon since its my first choice to attend, and Portland State is my second choice. If I don’t get into either school, I may just transfer to another junior college in the Portland Metro Region.
If getting into the above mentioned Universities and if I don’t transfer to another junior college; I may end up going back up to Alaska and finish school up there.
It’s a matter of waiting and hearing back from the two Universities before I decide on which road to take. Knowing my luck, I just may end up back living in Alaska.
The last 2 years in Portland haven’t been great but alright for the most part. Things could have gotten better, things said differently, and things should have gone differently.
One thing that’s starting to bug me is my health. I’ve noticed a couple of things that have cropped up recently that have me concerned about. These specific things I hope to get checked out on the sooner side.
Anyways, I hope that these 2 Universities would get the transcripts from the school’s that I’ve already attended. The transcripts went by USPS standard mail which my take 7 to 10 business days (usually). With Portland State they would send out an email saying that they received documents when they would arrive to the admissions office. For some reason I thought the transcripts would have arrived by now to Portland State and to University of Oregon.
Seems like that moving to Oregon and applying to University of Oregon and to Portland State has been a waste of time so far. I may eat these words when and if I hear back from them if I’m admitted to either school, and I would update this post when I do. I might also link to another post when I add note to this post.
I’m just tired of waiting of things that take time to go get done or get processed.
Even though I’ve been in Oregon for about 2 years now. I have looked and applying for jobs for most of this time, and there were a couple of places that I got an interview at. Yet at each interview that I did I somehow screwed things up during the interview. It’s either the way that convey information, drawing a blank about stuff, or saying not enough to the interviewer while during the interview.
This last week I had an interview, and the person said they would be in touch this week; which I doubt that they will be.
One of the thing’s I need to improve the way I conduct my self in interviews when I’m able to get an interview. I also need to improve the gathering of information about companies before I have an interview. I know that there are ways to improve one self for the interview process, and since I’m taking classes, I’ll be looking into these workshop’s for help. I just need to look for these workshops at the school that I’m attending at, or through the state employment center’s.
There are other factors that go when I’m applying and getting interviews for jobs, but I won’t really mention them here now, or anytime soon.
bye for now….
Note: This is cross posted with this post.
For most of the year I’ve been putting in applications to a lot of companies with no luck. I’ve gotten an interview with one company but wasn’t offered a position that I had an interview with.
With the amount of time passing by I don’t know if I would be able to get a job. I know I could go to school and further what ever knowledge that I have, but at this point its just going to keep my busy and there’s a possibility of not being able to get a job after getting a degree of some kind.
It seems like that I have a constant run of bad luck over the last 6 years or so. I’ve been a caregiver for the 10 or so years – which had been a full time job (at least 50+ hours) in which I wasn’t paid for. I was caregiver for a relative with a some what limited income during this time. Not being paid to be a caregiver which is “screwing” me over in a few ways. The obviously way is preventing me from me getting hired on at company in Oregon.
All I want is to find work someplace and save some money to live on. Granted the way the job market is happens to be an “employers market.”
Seems like that I’m looking in all of the wrong places or answering those “assessment” the wrong way on online applications.
I even put in for McDonald’s and I don’t know if I’m going to hear from them. If I don’t, I just wonder what’s wrong on how I’m approaching on filling out applications or whatever related to filling out applications. Don’t know if that made any sense but whatever.
Anyways, all I want to do is to work and go to school …. is that to much to ask. Seems that no matter on what I try to improve my life seems all I get are road blocks of some fashion. It’s like that I shouldn’t have left Alaska in the first place, even though I got really tired of the cold, snow and the long nights.
