A weird story

I found an interesting story but for some weird reason I wasn't able to post this specific post through blogger.com, so posted it onto this site. You're more than welcome to leave a comment or two about this story I've commented on. laters all peter

The Register - Woman rebrands as GoldenPalace.com

I found this story by the way of an rss feed from The Register which I found through bloglines.com. Anyways, the woman in this story basically has her name changed to a name for casinos website. Which, is said to be done legally for US$15,000 plus. A very odd story to say the least. laters all

Interesting stories about blogging, podcasting, and a couple other stories...

Below are links to articles that I've found on the web that relates to the Communications on the Web class - e.g. blogging to podcasting, music or worth mentioned on this blog. So, I thought of doing on post instead of several to save space and give my 2 cents of each story after each link. News.com - AOL unveils blogging service for teens: In a way I'm glad AOL is doing this simply it would give parents some degree of control - I think - of how or to whom their kids share their blog with. At least their not banning blogs all together. News.com - VoIP calls become iPod radio broadcasts: Just another twist that VoIP and IPods would intermingle and more entrenched into the public mind of sorts. News.com - Gartner: Beware of Mac OS spyware: This was going to happen sooner or later whether or not dedicated Mac user's wanted this to happen. Just need to be more careful in what is downloaded from the internet. Yahoo! News - VH1 turns C-listers into retro-cool reality: Its just a story that I found and liked. The Blog Herald - High school bans blogging: This just seems wrong but anything within reason to help protect kids at any age from predators that might pray on them. Plus, parents should try to be more involved in their kids lives, but parents go overboard though. Wired News - Thief Swipes More Than a Laptop: This story should give a person another reason to keep tack of your own belongings such as laptop computers, especially if there's a lot of personal data on the computer. ABC News - Most American Adults Are Sleep-Deprived: People, including me, should take measures to get more sleep, and also improve on how you could manage your time better, which would help too, I think. ABC News - Presley Dishes About Marriage to Jackson: Her marriage to M. Jackson still seems wrong to this day, even though they are no longer married to each other. ABC News - CNN Headline News Passes MSNBC in Ratings: Its about time that Headline News get better rations with the new lineup in the evening. I found these stories through the account that I have at bloglines.com, which I think is a good service, even though I did have a problem with it over this last week. laters all peter

CNN.com - Shuttle Discovery moved to assembly building

One thing that I do like living up here in Fairbanks, AK is that I can enjoy looking at the stars during the winter, weather permitting, that is. I've always like into space, if I can depending on where I do live or visiting. Anyways, I found this story on cnn.com about the shuttle program, and I thought it was interesting enough to make a post about it. This article talk's about the changes that were made after the accident in Feb., 2003. That day is one of many sad days when good people died. laters all peter

weird weeks and the way people drive on the road...

Over the last several weeks has been weird or being odd. What I mean is that the week before spring break I wasn't feeling good, but at least I didn't get sick even mildly over spring break. Its just when the weather gets warmer during this time of year, people do seem to get bolder while driving, especially when there were some slick spots on the road. Its just I wish people would drive more safely, but then I could possibly say the same thing about myself. Anyways, its just the way people drive without the care in the world, and really don't care what happens to the other driver or drivers. I also don't like people who speed up behind me then pass me and get yell (in so many words) me for driving so damn slow, even when I'm going the speed limit of whatever road I'm driving on. Another thing I've noticed is that there are some drivers who drive so f---ing slow its unbelievable that driver would drive so slow and not possible realize there are people behind them, or just don't care if there are people behind them who just need to go where their are going to. For example, beginning of this last week there was a slow driver in front of me on geist road and turned right onto chena ridge road and there was a whole line of cars behind me just itching to speed up the road. The person who was driving a white ford pickup, didn't really care or at least to me, about people passing them. This happened at the bottom of the road, near the intersection of chena pump and chena ridge. As I was saying about how the last 2 weeks went, its just that I didn't get what I wanted to get done, well done and finished with or get current/up to date with my homework. Another thing I didn't get around to do is to repair some drywall in one of the closets that I have in my home. I also wanted to get more bedroom more organized, among other things too. 2 of the 4 classes that I'm currently taking I really like taking, the first class I like taking is communications with the web with Chris Lott and the other class I like is ceramics which you can make just about everything within reason. Speaking of school, I don't know if I would be taking classes in the fall or not, but it depends on what classes that I need or want to take. But who knows what I would do in regards to classes that I might take. later folks peter

News.com: Phishers target Yahoo Messenger

If you use Yahoo Messenger you might want to read this story. I had a similar thing happened to me one time and I just blocked the user that was listed. Just thought of passing it along. Peter

Yahoo links to free digital content

Here is another story about Creative Commons and Yahoo. Having this type of search is helpful with finding legal content to share. On a side note, I have Creative Commons on one of my site's, but haven't gotten around to fully implement it across my entire site.

MercuryNews.com: It's official: That was a finger in chili

I found this story unnerving because its really makes me sick to my stomach and it gives me another reason why I don't eat at Wendy's, plus their food doesn't agree with me. This story reminded me of another incident when I was still living in California. I was having dinner with my family at a Mexican restaurant that was at one of the nearby malls. Another patron of this restaurant found a scorpion in her salad while this person was eating the salad. Just be sure to check what your eating before you actually eat the food.

Yahoo! News - Lucas' world comes full circle

If you're a Star Wars fan, like a lot of people including me, are waiting for the next and final movie to come out; the Story. I really can't wait to see it, and in a strange way I was hoping that there would 3 more movies after Empires Strikes Back. But then, trying to do 9 movies for Star Wars is too much to ask for. I barley remember seeing the last 2 movies of the first trilogy when I was younger. I've always been a fan of Star Wars but I don't have every little thing or wear some weird get up to some attention while waiting in line to get a movie tickets like some fans might do. But then there are people that like to do or be extreme things if there are fans of a specific movie/tv franchise's. Sometimes I'm amazed by the people who do extreme things, just for the sake of doing it but other's like to get the attention. laters

a story about the Flickr service

Tonight/this morning I found 2 stories about Flickr, well 1 press release (on The Blog Herald) and 1 news post on Flickr's blog. The reason why I'm mentioning this is because in class we talked about Flickr and setting up an account on their site before spring break. At least the flickr service won't be integrated into Yahoo! Photo's anytime in the near future, which is a good thing. laters

Yahoo! News - Cars get into music downloading craze

Well, its about time that car manufacturers got around to make it easier to store your music collections to some basic video games. This could be good for people with young kids or for people who share the taste in music or for other people in the car, aside from the driver, to watch movie's on the road. But in the later case it would be best to watch movies when the car is not moving in any fashion. Now, the only question remains is that, How long will it take to get this technology into newer yet to come models? laters peter

Yahoo! News: Cream-Filled Exhibit Features Twinkies

If you have liked Twinkies, you might get a laugh out of this story. Just found this interesting too and it also made me think that I hadn't had a twinkie(s) in about 20 yrs (I think). hope you enjoy the story about twinkies, I know I did. laters

What a way to spend time at a hotel....

This story I found is about a Cyclone that happened to hit the western side of Australia's cost line, which also leveled an exclusive resort that was supposedly to open by Easter weekend. At least there were no injuries but plans were just down right ruined your getaway plans. But then someone could travel to other parts of western Australia, that is, if you wanted to do. I've always wanted to go to Australia and to New Zealand for that matter. Its just one of several countries that I want to visit to. But, its just a matter of when I could travel to Australia & New Zealand. laters

Yahoo 360° blogging site

Tonight I read that Yahoo! is finally making public that its getting into blogging. From what I've read it would be interesting to what the service looks like. site: Yahoo 360° story links: Yahoo! Tests Blend of Blogging, Networking - Yahoo! Site; News.com: Yahoo jumps into blogosphere with 'Yahoo 360°' Granted Yahoo! needs to some catching up to do with other blogging site's. In the first story link that I've posted said that Yahoo does have deep pockets and access to a lot of registered users which is a plus for them. laters

Well, this story, I found, talks about "pick-up spots." but its not that kind of pick-up spots you might be thinking of as your reading this. I got a laugh out of it because of the title and thought of something else. so comment away... peter

A story about Google' AdSense

blog spamming or spamming blogs .... You choose!

(this post will be edited later) Over the last 6 to 12 weeks while looking thru blogs and such, one constant thing that I have found is that there are a lot of blogs that are just downright spam. The posts on these spam blogs basically show the same thing over and over which is sicking. People and companies will just do about anything for money really, can't really blame them. But the thing I have found while looking through other spam blogs I tend to notice the same information/content but generally with the same or different titles and url's. If you haven't guessed by now I hate spam in any form even if it looks like its legit. But then I would double check the legit look a like things out though - maybe. just my 2 cents on this. Comment away your 2 cents worth of comments. peter

an odd story i found...

A story I found on Yahoo! News titled City Won't Destroy 'Cursing Stone' which is an odd story.

Yahoo! News - Cell Phones Do Much More Than Make Calls

There is an interesting story that I just found on Yahoo! News on some new features on cell phones that made a debut at CeBit. This story also talks about what new phones could do too.

What to do for the summer?

Well its to the point in time whether or not to take a class in the summer. I wouldn't mind or should take a class in the summer but the problem is which course to take. I probaly should take one of the required classes during the summer just for the sake of taking a class or just the need to taking a class. What would I learn if I take a class just for the sake of taking it and not for taking a class for the information and such. Such a dilemma on whether or not to take a class, I also want to get a job over the summer too, just help keep me busy, and to have the extra income, but it would depend on where I apply for a job at. I know UAF has a number of student jobs being offered, but I don't know about working at the univeristy, it would be nice but just don't know about doing that. I'll see just what would happen this summer. laters.

Interesting story to read for a possible M.B.A students

I found a interesting story that I have found on forbes.com by the way of My Yahoo! page. Anyway, this story talks about how it might still be worth the time and effort to get an M.B.A. As it is I'm planning to get an B.B.A. and an ITS degree here at UAF. Getting a M.B.A. might be helpful for me in the long run, maybe.

What is to come for web technologies?

There is a story that I have found on news.com on wheather or not technology that builds the web may take a detour or not. It would depend on how thing's are developed and how people would want to take thing's to the next level for the web technologies. This story is 3 pages long so it might take some time to read.

Here is a wrong way to find or get your status from a university

Well there is a wrong way and a good way to know what your admissions status is at any of the universities that you might have applied to. This story tells what happened to 119 students trying to know their status at Harvard.

Yahoo! and blogging

How ATM's are becoming more web friendly

Just a story that I liked and found on news.com. I do like the fact ATM's are have more and better features than in the past. I wonder, if when, smaller banks might have more features on their ATM's.

If you have the money, you might be interested in this

If you like to be on the cutting edge of technology and have the biggest, latest gadget's plus other stuff you might like this story on news.com about a new LCD television.

A story on how bloggers are becoming more mainstream

Here is another story that I found on news.com titled: White House approves pass for blogger. This is just an interesting story on how a blogger got a press pass at the White House.

A another rival to ITunes is coming...

I found a story on news.com interesting because there is an already crowed field for music downloads with Apple ITunes being on the for front of the legal music download. Yahoo! would be coming out with its own version soon and it would be interesting to see what it would be like. Now if Apple share the technology behind the protection with a select few companies, people might have several more choices other than the IPods.

I found this story disturbing to some degree

This story: Apple Beats Bloggers in Court Battle for some reason bugged me. Granted companies should and need to protect "trade secretes" and the like from their competitors in their respected field. Plus, about everyone or all of use craves constant stream of information, in various degrees of getting. Getting news and such should be within reason but hey if information comes out before the intended release it might also help with the sales of the product. We should also be careful or at least be suspicious of the sources of where our news is coming from. That is just my 2 cents on this story.

Teen Convicted Under Internet Piracy Law in Arizona

I kind of found this story ironic because, even though, I don't use P2P networks, I prefer to listen to streaming music at Yahoo! Music. But then I really don't care for in using P2P networks. I would rather pay something if it's just a single digital track of music from a legal source on the web. Or in my case (as far as I know) legal streaming music and videos.

Genomics researchers & Apple Computer

I like this story because it shows that by having an Apple-based sever or desktop computers, that you might get more information processed or at least run more efficiently than Windows-based computers, or at least in some conditions. But hey, what ever is the most efficient use of time, money, technology & what you're most comfortable using in the long run.

A day in the life of a quiet person... Read on if you dare

* This post has been edited * (marked with *)... This is a post where I'm just venting out crap and at no one in pictular (sp?). One thing I don't understand why some people want or need to go after people that shy or those who don't want to say much like in class, or in other settings. What I mean is that if someone is either quiet, say much or downright shy people, like for example, one of my evening classes this last week ending March 4, 2005, that there weren't too many people in class so I sat towards the front of class just for the sake of sitting towards the front of class in one of those rare times that a class meeting is barely full of people. Although I don't mind, in very general terms, being talked about, however, in any of my classes I don't usually say that much and keep quiet partly because I have several 2 1/2 - 3 hour classes and I generally like to sit in the same part of the classroom. I'm the type of person who doesn't want or like to have my back facing a room door regardless where I am or where the class I am taking place. I am a quiet person (by choice), I much rather watch and be observant of any conversations that might go on around me, or if in or near a group of people. Another reason is that I don't want to say much is that I might say something out of context of whatever conversation I might be part of. Plus there are several other reasons why I don't want to say much, which I don't want to say. What I'm trying to say that if someone who doesn't want to say something or wants to talk a lot doesn't mean that I might not be interested in something. Its just that I don't want to talk all of the damn time or change where I sit every week. I always have been in the habit of sitting in the back of the classroom no matter where the class I'm taking is held. Here is an example. In one of classes as I was in a hall about to head towards my car whether or not to use the facilities (bathroom) before I leave the building, a fellow classmate, which I will leave nameless, made a snide remark that I obnoxious, granted I could or can be at times. But, I just don't f---ing like someone who makes snide remarks as I pass him or her, where it could be said of the same thing of them. As it is this last week has been weird for me with trying to get back into a routine of going to one of the local health clubs during the last few weeks and with the warmer (sort of, I think) here in Fairbanks, AK. So I might get obnoxious towards the end of a long day and after being in class for nearly 5 1/2 to 6 hrs straight on Wednesday & Thursdays. Another thing is that, for some reason or another, I just want to make sure that I don't leave any of my things behind or make sure things are put away before I leave a class room or an area that I was occupying. I just hate to leave things behind by mistake, regardless. So, I just wanted to get some frustration out in the open and say what I really want to say. So kiss my a-- if you don't like what was said and nothing really could stop me from posting other bs in the future anyways. Also, I do not mean to make anyone feel guilty or anything of the kind, just needed to my frustrations out giving its been a wired week for me.* Later all, peter

Sony Ericsson Unveils New Phones, One Has Walkman

I found this story interesting because you could listen to the radio when you're not talking on the phone or while on the phone but read the story for more info though. It would be interesting wheather or not the new walkman phone take's off or not.

Seeing people at strangest times

Over the last couple of weeks at various times during on any giving day. It just seems that at odd times I would come across people that I had classes with, worked with or meet over the years that I have been living here in Fairbanks. Seeing people that I've been acquainted with tend to show up at times and places where are least expected to say the least.
